SEPTIC TANKS
Septic
Tanks are the most common way of disposing of your drainage waste when
you are not connected to mains drainage. Many septic tank systems
provide an excellent way of waste disposal and if looked after
correctly should give many years of trouble free life.
A
septic tank simply separates the liquid sewage from the sollids, the
liquid effluent from a septic tank is discharged into the sub soil via
a soakaway.
Common
problems with septic tanks are defective soakaways. Septic tank
soakaways need a porous sub soil to work correctly and if you are in an
area with a heavy soil (i.e. clay) then a septic tank may not be
suitable.
